When retirees are looking for the best place to settle, they
often cite climate as the top reason to choose
one retirement destination over another. Florida and
Arizona continue to be top retirement spots because they are warm (and often hot)
year-round. There are other options! We've also included cost-of-living estimates for
each town below.
Chapel Hill, North Carolina
This college town is becoming more popular with retirees,
partly because of its mild four-season climate. Summers
tend to be slightly hot (88 degrees), with 50% humidity, but
there are no 0-degree days and only 83 days per year, on
average, of 32 degree temperatures. 112 clear days a
year, with 253 partly cloudy days. Very slight wind, and
about 43 inches of rain a year, spread evenly throughout the
year.
Cost-of-Living: Slightly above
the national average.
